Last night Beverly and I went to the Christmas Procession at EPCOT. Tears moistened my eyes as I lived the birth of Jesus. Listening to the music, singing and narration of Jesus coming into the world, I was deeply moved because everything was about Jesus. I was reminded of God's unsurpassed love for the human race and me. I found myself asking the age old question, "Why did Jesus come?"
The call of God in covenant with us is for us to be holy as our Father in heaven is holy. This is OT and NT truth. A major part of holiness is walking in loving obedience to God's commandments. In other words, it is not okay to sin.
Scriptures teach us that one's failure to repent of sin will destroy one's life as in King Saul and King Solomon. The Word also teaches the power of repentance, that through repentance God redeems a person's life, as in King David. When one humbles himself in response to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, confesses one's sins, and has a heart and mind change in regard to sin that is the key to freedom through the blood of Jesus Christ. Repentance brings liberty and sets the captive free when combined with faith in Jesus Christ.
